Help Stuck Doing Nothing

So yesterday a drink got spilled on my phone. I wiped it off took it out of its case: everything worked fine. I get home and few hours later, the volume starts randomly turning itself up and down and I have no control over it. I decided to reboot it. It comes back on and continues on a reboot loop until the phone dies. I plug it in, and ten minutes later I start it up. It comes on in Safe Mode, but all the features I cared about just then were working. Still no volume control though. When I go to bed I turn off the phone and let it charge all the way. I wake up, turn it on, and I have the white boot up screen. Only the up volume button works and I can't select anything with the power button. I also can't turn it off. I can't even do a factory reset. I put it in rice, but other than that I have absolutely no idea what to do from here. Please help.

Howdy there LimegreenGirl!
Well, better late than never with the rice thing as moisture is a killer with devices :(
Albeit the best thing would have been to remove the battery and any sim/sd cards and put it in rice right away. But hey, no worries ;)

However, you may want to try the alcohol bath as outlined here:

and perhaps bring it back to life :D

Yeah, my battery can't be removed. I can remove the sd card but I don't know if it would even make a difference at this point. I didn't think about putting it in rice because I was at a school party and it was still working just fine, most of the moisture didn't make it past the cover and I dried it up within minutes. I didn't have any problems at all until the volume buttons staged a coo a few hours later.

Welcome to the forum, @LimegreenGirl - I only wish it could be under better circumstances! :)

I'm guessing the spilled drink wasn't just water, was it? Moisture is bad, but all the other stuff that's in a sugary soda or other beverage can cause a lot of long-term issues. An alcohol bath *may* be able to get some of that gunk out and get your device going again, but you'll definitely want to remove the battery before trying that.

Here's a teardown guide that kind of walks you through the steps to get the battery out (among other things). You'll likely need a special plastic spudger tool to separate the pieces of the phone - a handful of guitar picks will generally do in a pinch.

Give the alcohol bath a go after you get the battery out.

If that all seems a bit over your head, you may be able to find a phone repair shop near you that could help. To be honest, though, you could probably get a new device like the Moto G for about what the repair might cost.

Good luck!
