ok
1) what guide for rooting are you following and did where did you get all the files from?
2) if you used the androidmod.zip you need to unzip and move ONLY the recovery test keys to the sd

and I am in Anaheim

ok I am using justjimpcs guide
and i unzipped the whole folder onto the sd card files from getyourdroidon.com

hers a list of what i got dreaimg.nhb, engineers bootloader jspl signed jf 1.43
i formatted my card to default fat 32 copied the dreaimg ont o it booted into the bootloader loaded it and was in an working os the i dl telnet and thats when it wouldnt let me i
then i got a terminal emulater by that name from apps on market
opened it and no permissinns

ok you got the files from my page so i know they are all good copies, and honestly you should probably do only 1 file at a time as this sounds to be your first attempt at it.... secondly start from scratch again and if you use IRC go to #androidforums it'll be easier to walk you through the steps that way than responding in this thread... If not just post progress of each step after you start from scratch....

ok a little farther but still not there Jfv1.5DevoldSU and the 2_22_19_261 radio. I rename the JF file to update? Earlkier I treid to rename the eng boot loader 2 to update and nothing. tried both update.zip and just update

so now its updating verifying the update package do i delete it from the sd card after it boots and rename the radio updated file to update as well?

its now rebooted to a white and silvery ANDROID

is it stuck in this? it just scrolls by the word like 4 times then hangs the starts over

yes you delete the old file from the sd and rename and copy the radio to the sd and run the process again....

how long should i be waiting? it is still at the word andriod before it loads into the os. been about 15 minutes or more

should not take that long if you did not do the jf rc33 install prior to doing the cupcake i would repeat step 4 using the jfrc33 version get a good boot then do cupcake again... it is not recommended to go straight from rc29 to cupcake

first try reinstalling the current update.zip make sure you do an alt+w then alt+s again it does take a while on first boot up to 5 minutes sometimes... if it does not work i would reccomend using a card reader for your sd copy the jfrc33 build as update.zip and re-doing step 4 with it....

like i said if you can not get past the boot after about 5 min or so take the sd card out put it in a card reader and copy the rc33 to it rename update and do step 4 using that file it will restore you to a working rc33 build and try cupcake again after that....

nice got it booted into rc33 i did like you said just did the update to JF adp1.5 oh and i got it! i am getting the radio image now. I REALLY REALLY appreciate your help nooneshereyet Thank you

follow the prompts on the install if it works you will be brought to a screen with a downward pointing yellow arrow and a chip when it is complete it will return you to the recovery then reboot

WOW !! what a marathon session !!

Thanks to NoOneHereYet for all you pateince and persiverence !!!

I continues to amaze me how hard it seems for some to follow the instructions exactly .... and mix or jump steps ...

I just have to use one of my favorite expressions....

" A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof, is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools."

" A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof, is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools." So true So true....

But the way I see it is we all have to start somewhere, if it weren't for others like Devolio in this forum I would probably be in the same boat he is... so pay it forward and see what happens down the line....

To late but in case someone stumbles across this thread...

I did have trouble with step 2 (would get an error about the header being corrupted) and ended up having to copy the test keys to the sd card (adp push seems broke for all versions of the sdk I have, it would see to device and be able to connect to the shell but anytime I did a push it would say "protocol error") then use adp to execute all the commands instead of telnet.
