When you're stuck in a boot loop, the only options for really trying to resolve the issue are to...
1.Boot to the stock recovery and perform a factory data reset.
2.Re-flash the N5 stock Google factory images and start over fresh.
3, if your N5 is rooted, try either to restore a previous nandroid backup, perform a factory reset or reflash your rom.
If you have any other information that might be useful, please share.

I think if the Google search app being missing is the cause (I would have thought it would though still boot up) then a factory reset probably isn't enough. It just clears your files from the phone and won't add anything back.
You'll probably need to do 1 AND 2 from the list in the post above or at least push the search apk from your PC. Probably better to just flash the whole image though.
