Help Stuck on Red Eye Loading Screen

So my android is stuck on the red eye loading screen and won't fully turn itself on. I've read that I need to clear my chache but I'm having trouble with that. I can't get the menu to pop up on the android triage screen. I've tried pressing the volume buttons as directed, quickly, slowly, separately, for 15 seconds, for half a second, and it just refuses to appear.

Anyone have any insight or anything else to try before I factory reset and lose everything?

Running Droid RAZR M from Verizon.

Quick update: managed for get the menu up and cleared the cache but still not getting past the ring/vault screen. Next step? Factory reset?

I'm not a moto guy but I'm guessing that's what you're gonna have to try next
(and hope that it works or you're gonna have to fire up your laptop and wait for things to get a bit more complicated lol)

On second thought the cache clearing might not be working. It seems like after it clears the cache it is supposed to give you the menu again but mine just automatically reboots.

My son's phone did the same thing. I tried all of the "easy" things. We ended up going here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192467 , downloading the utility and re-loading the phone. It took a little while, but it worked! His phone is now functioning like brand new. Good Luck.
