Root Stuck on Stock recovery

Here is the problem in a nutshell:

I tried to install a ROM and it did not work. I am not sure why. I then tried to restore a backup I made before the attempted flash. When I restarted (after being told restore was completed), the pone rebooted into stock recovery. Noting else happens.

Note: I ran Amon-RA by using the cmd prompt on my computer and booting from PC. Now the computer cannot detect the Rezound at all: adb devices returns nothing

Right now i want to get back to stock...How would i do that?

Thanks.

what happens if you either:
1)pull the battery and just turn the phone on
or
2)hold vol up/power on the stock recovery until you see a menu. chose the option to reboot

I am going to try this again on a full charge. I would hate to think I have to get a new phone because I cannot boot/flash amon ra to restore a backup.

Failing all of these efforts, is there a way to restore the phone's OS in a manner similar to using RSDlite on the bionic?

I tried flashing amom-ra, but the computer recognizes the phone very briefly.

im not really sure what you mean by this.

are you able to boot to fastboot and launch amon to try and restore your backup again? do you have a different backup you can restore? have you tried flashing a new rom?

if fastboot is still working correctly, you could try permanently installing amon.before you do that, might try a factory data reset in hboot and see what happens.

it sort of sounds like you have somehow flashed the stock recovery into the boot partition  tho i cannot imagine how that would have happened  for S&Gs,you might try booting to fastboot, launching amon, and then try "adb reboot recovery" and see if your phone boots(maybe the boot image is in the recovery partition ;)

failing all that,i would prolly flash the main version low zip, then relock and run the full, signed RUU. you can do it as a PH98IMG in hboot,or start the .exe file with the phone in fastboot.

"im not really sure what you mean by this."
I was trying to flash amon ra using the cmd prompt. Unfortunately the computer did not recognize the phone (this when I typed adb devices). Once or twice the phone was recognized. but when I then tried to flash or boot, the computer no longer recognized the phone, as indicated by a failure to flash or boot amon ra (subsequently, typing adb devices returned nothing). so it seems it is only recognizing the phone for a short period of time, too short to flash or boot amon ra

"are you able to boot to fastboot and launch amon to try and restore your backup again? do you have a different backup you can restore? have you tried flashing a new rom?"
I have a different backup I can restore. I have had limited success flashing Rezound ROMs, but there are a couple ICS ROMS which I flashed successfully.

I am able to get into fastboot, so I will try the factory data reset.

I understand what you are saying, but I agree with you: I cannot imagine how this would have happened.

Ok, will try that.

Okay, And I guess the phone not being recognized by the PC means that I would likely have to do this in Hboot (as a PH98IMG), since as of 1 AM last night I can get into Hboot.

I know what the RUU is, but what is the main version low zip? I see the instructions so this is just for my knowledge.

As always, thank you very much for your help

yep,if you dont get a reply from "fastboot devices" then youll prolly have to use a ph98img.

some directions and the main version low zip to return to stock aRE the second post of the root thread, sorry for the short answer im on my way to work

No worries. I am at work too. Thanks. Hopefully it will work out when I get home. Hopefully I can keep all this activity from the wife....

Okay, I get into Hboot. There is a message that says "Main version is older! Update fail."

Update: problem solved...once I was able to get into recovery, I flashed the stock kernel via Hanoon's handy little tool. As soon as that was done, the phone rebooted. It's all good.

Oh, I forgot one step. The first step actually: restoring from an older nandroid backup than the one I had been using. That older backup I knew was reliable.
