Help stuck with Google voice for text

Lobsteroll

Newbie
I've been a fan of Google voice, but I just got the nexus and although I like using it for voicemail, I do not want to use it for texting. Is there a way to turn this off?

I figured it out.
You have to go to Google voice from a web browser go into settings and selecting allow text messaging for this devise. I can't see why they haven't added that into the apps interface.

Your texts will still be handled by Google Voice and you will get double notifications. I also could not stand GV's handling of my text messages, so I disabled it from my number entirely (from the website) - then I updated GV in the market and ran it. It won't give you "full (annoying) integration" but it will handle your voicemail and allow you to use it to make international calls, which is exactly what I wanted.

All you have to do is turn off notifications in the Google voice app to stop the double notification. It basically works like a third party messaging app that way.

Had to turn mines off too. Its not even checked int he setting for text messages and it still does it. Other than this (maybe me just not having experience with it) this phone rocks.
