Help Stupid-est thing I ever saw - Samsung Account

leightos

Newbie
when adding all my accounts and setting up my new Samsung Galaxy S2, I noticed after a day or so that the email in my 'Samsung Account' (Settings> Accounts/Sync) has a typo.:(
So, I tried to find a way to edit it - no option. Then I tried to delete it - can't because it says the ONLY way to do it is to do a Factory Reset.

Are you fricking kidding me? One email address has a typo and I have to factory reset the whole bloody phone?

I did some searches on the web and this forum before I posted - but, this is the STUPID-EST thing I have ever seen on a (so called) smart phone.

Anyone know of any solutions?

cheers,
Leightos

already looked into that...thanks. Doesn't work because that solution refers to the Gmail account. NOT the Samsung account. The same features don't apply under managing applications.

cheers,

To what 'samsung account' are you referring to? The gmail account that you enter for market, and everything google? or another?

yeah you can remote turn on the gps/make it ring/read call log/auto send text if sim card swapped/remote lock/remote wipe.

I had the Google Authorisation Failed message due to changing googlemail to gmail.

I didn't feel like resetting, and just added a new account. It mentioned about not having duplicate accounts or something and I just ignored it and it luckily all stated working without issues. (essentially its the same account but the authorisation was borked)

did the reset - ABSOLUTELY THE MOST STUPID-EST thing I've ever encountered on a phone.
RIDICULOUS.

Wouldn't it be even more stupid if someone stole your phone and quickly edited/changed the account name thus disabling your ability to implement any security features on the phone?

Exactly, some people are never happy eh?

I wonder if he backed up most of his stuff first? lol.

No - in 14 years I've had over 20 phones, none stolen. plus I have other apps to do this for me. Thanks though, good point.

And yes, hahaha, I backed up my stuff. Luckily I only had the phone 1 day. So the rebuild took only about an hour.

thanks everyone.
