Root stupid question about loading ROMs

Ok, probably a dumb question here for most of you, but if I load a new ROM onto my phone do I lose all apps/data that are currently loaded?

I've rooted, de-binged, loaded clockwork via odin, made a backup, and have loaded the DJ05 GPS fix onto my DI01 fascinate which, by the way, made an ENORMOUS difference on getting GPS lock. Just haven't been able to tell whether a ROM will nuke everything I've got loaded already and don't want to find out the hard way.

Thanks in advance for the clarification. -B

roms wont wipe your data unless you choose to wipe data in rom manager or clockwork recovery...that said some roms strip out system apps (like the verizon bloat apps) or replace sammy apps with aosp or alternate apps (ie messaging) and some people prefer the stock ones

your best bet is to make a backup in cwr before flashing the rom, so if you arent happy with what is removed by the rom, just reload your backup
