Sorry, I should have been clearer - I meant the "power off" button on the widget. But if it's Peel Smart Remote (a right POS app if ever there was one) then I guess that would just turn your TV off.
Force closing the app should get rid of the widget in that case. If the behaviour is new then I guess if you uninstall updates that might ensure it never comes back (make sure auto update is not enabled).
As for compatibility, I guess you have an earlier version than that in the Play Store. Count yourself lucky, because the Play Store app you showed an image of is notorious for adding extra adware lockscreens and crap like that.
That one does work to turn off and on the tv.Ditch the peel app and find something better. There are a boatload of remote control apps that don't cause this sort of problem. We see so many peel remote problems here that it's laughable (unless it's the one throwing widgets or lockscreen ads all over your phone.)
I haven't tried too many. I found that after messing about with apps it was simply easier to go to Target and pick up a cheap universal remote that works with all my devices.
