Subtitles in Android

The mVideoPlayer seems cannot load .sub + .idx subtitle, it shows "parse subtiltle error"
Is there any method to solve it ?

Hey guys I have been on this kind of stuff and researching for ages, but there is one hidden app that will do the trick, and solve MKV problems, it's called "Dice Player" This one extrats the subs from the MKV video, and oh yeah, this app is the only app to play MKV full HD or 720p smootly.... Please someone try it and I know It won't let you down. So what you waiting for! it's in the Android market! Go for it!

Any way to have the subtitles show up on the TV when my phone is connected via the HDMI output and they are not hardcoded into the actual video file??

I got the .srt files to work on the actual device using mVideoPlayer but it doesn't transfer to my tv. I'm wondering if my laptop will do the same thing or if it's just a function of the phone HMDI output.

I need help with this.

thx.

this method is tried on samsung galaxy ace (with MVK and MP4).. and worked awesome
1) get mobo player (free ) from android market
2) copy ur sub file in same folder whr video is
3) make sure ur sub file have same name as the video (eg. myvideo.mp4, myvideo.sub)

thats it... mobo player will automatically start showing subtitles :)

cheers..

I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy s2 with the MIUI rom.
With my configuration, Diceplayer is the best player of the several I have tried but doesn't support idx/sub subtitles, ie subtitles saved in picture format as opposed to text like the srt (which are fully supported).

The best way I found to deal with this is to merge / hardcode the subtitles in the videos. I can do it easily with VirtualDub and the vobsub filter for avi files and with handbrake for mkvs. Handbrake only lets you merge subtitles if they are in the same mkv file as the video, but you can easily embed them using mkvmerge. Re-econding a 90-minute 1280x720 video takes about 25 minutes on my quad-core PC. Of course if I am making a version which is only meant to play on a phone I can also downscale it, reducing size and encoding time.

I also shared my experience here:
