Suggest an android phone for under 80?

Thanks everyone for the help. I think i am going to end up with the Moto G4 although i am worried about all the negative reviews about ghost touch and phantom touch where the phone goes nuts. I have read reviews on several stores like newegg, walmart, amazon and there is a large amount of people that have these issues. That and the won't power on issue even though the battery is charged requiring to hold volume down and power to get it to turn on or something.

One of the things you have to take into consideration with online reviews is that it can easily become an echo chamber. One person cites a problem and all of a sudden someone else who isn't particularity satisfied with their purchase immediately has the same problem and a small but vocal group makes it an online issue.

Another thing you have to look at is the type of problem. We've seen these complaints from other phones, too and 'ghost touches' or 'phantom touches' are almost always a poorly fitting case or screen protector interfering with the digitizer. Other than an odd manufacturing defect, I've never seen a design flaw that caused these symptoms.

The battery issue might be that a new phone doesn't have enough battery stats to properly judge remaining time on charge, and it goes flat prematurely. Getting a phone to turn on with a completely dead battery, even on a charger can be problematic.

Finally, you have to look at the number of bad reviews. Motorola sells a lot of phones. tens of thousands of this model alone if not more. 20 bad reviews ... 30 or even 100 isn't really an indication of a bad phone across the board.

I'm not saying that the bad reviews aren't worth considering and that these people didn't have problems, but it's those who have the problems who are always most vocal and they tend to skew the overall perception in reviews. Motorola is a good brand and they make good phones. Don't let a few bad reviews dissuade you from buying a phone that fits your needs.

Thanks i am going to give this phone a try. If it has problems i can return it for a replacement anyway since I'm buying new.

I wish i would of knew this before i bought it but it looks like the volume button is on the right side of the phone and i always use my left ear only for calls and like the volume to be right by my thumb on my left hand. Maybe i will be able to use my pointer finger somehow. I ended up ordering black as i figured if I'm playing a video it will be better.

Edit. Never mind i think my pointer finger will work.

Edit to. I am not that mad but i almost want to change order before it goes through and card gets charged to the white one. They probably would change the order. I wasn't sure if i wanted white because dust over time may discolor it. That and black is good for video. Same reason most TV screens have a black frame. Con is easier to lose in the dark. Pro is most people get black and if you got white you not getting your phones mixed up. The only way you can tell people phones apart anymore is the cases. They all look pretty much the same.

unfortunately, there's no telling where any manufacturer will place their buttons. I'm not a big fan of power and volume buttons next to each other, but, like anything else in life, you learn to live with it. ;) :)

It is ok i am glad i will have a phone in a few days although tomorrow is Sunday and i wont see it most likely for 3 days past Monday as this is Saturday and no shipping company as far as i know does Sundays so i know it won't even start to move until Monday. For some odd reason i always end up ordering something online on a Saturday. I am going to make sure it works then buy a case for it from amazon probably. I wasn't sure if i should get a screen protector or not. I also just found out the other phone still technically works. Although stuff is lose on it like the casing. My uncle has the same phone and i tried his battery. Apparently the battery is what died when it hit the road. Although since the casing is loose and a new cover won't help because damage on the phone itself keeps it from latching properly. Sure some glue may work but I don't want to do that and i don't know what parts of it may be broke internally although it powered on and screen didn't have a scratch. It took a massive hit and each part was way over 30 or more feet apart when i found it and it took me an our to find all the pieces. i decided a new phone was still worth it. Maybe i will pay for a battery for it later and glue the case on tight. I think it is 15 dollars for the battery.

I also didn't think my uncles battery would work. It literally had no protection case for it or a screen protector and hit the road at about 60mph. It was a bare phone.

I was thinking that it was odd that someone named thebudman420 wouldn't have money for a better phone. go figure

What do you guys think about this deal? https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1251440-REG/motorola_00972nartl_moto_g4_xt1625_4th.html 129.99 for the 32GB and 109.99 for 16gb version. In my area there is no tax and free shipping. I am in Illinois. They have the 16gb and 32gb in black and white colors.

I noticed everyone wants a higher price for the white ones including amazon. I am not sure why i think most people go for black anyway as they will end up putting a case around it like i am planning to do although on my computer screen at least the white one looks nice and i may end up getting the white one if i can find a case that matches.

I am actually having a relative of mine help me pay for the phone so i am hoping they will pay this price. If anything i will try to get the 16gb one and just get a larger sd card. Wish i could get a phone with more ram as i think i could put that to use somehow. 2gb should be fine for now i hope.

I think mainly any phone i get has to work on Verizon towers, The other phone that i posted up there used Verizon towers. Could i just stick my sim card from the old phone into the new phone and everything work out of the box? If not i will just have to call Safelink I'm guessing. That is how i activated the other phone and transfered it to the new one although the LG phone had a sim card with it already installed in it.

I think the price was $229.99 & $199.99 respectively for the motorola device listed in the link provided. The unlocked bootloader is probably the best feature if you plan to root and flash custom roms, but network carriers are getting more finicky about activating phones they don't actually sell. Some carriers won't activate rooted or custom phones at all any more.
