Suggested Android dev books for a programming n00b?

[Mayhem]

Can anyone suggest any books that would help a programming n00b learn how to develop apps for the Android?

Damned if I know anything about XML or programming in general. This stuff just confuses me.

Thanks.

You will want to start off with a Java book. If you feel like you can take in lots of info at once, I would get like a starter java book and they make books like "Android development for dummies" and just read them both at the same time, cross referencing.

Cool. I'll definitely look into that.

I may be able to get my work to buy it for me, since knowing Java will help in my daily role.

I wouldn't recommend studying Java. The two are similar in structure, but the names used are quite different. Just dive straight into android. You will live.
