I think you guys are barking up the wrong tree. I don't think Samsung sales are dying because they're copying Apple. I think they're dying because it's an insanely crowded field of devices with no real differentiation between any of them. Year over year smartphones aren't getting more innovative or interesting. How does the Note, for instance, differentiate itself in a market where iPhones are now 5.5"? The Note used to mean a specific size device (I'd argue that was its trademark much more than the Stylus), that's no longer an advantage or unique. Mainstream appeal isn't in SD Cards or swappable batteries. That appeals to a niche market, one which is getting smaller by the day (power users don't generate a lot of income for companies).

So yes, Samsung is "copying" Apple in the sense that it's trying to point its product line in the direction the market has been heading. I think the reason their current offerings only look incrementally better than last year (if at all) is because that's where all smartphone vendors are. The iPhone 6S is going to be incredibly boring, where the highlight of the show will probably be Apple's version of a long press (Long time Android fans are gonna have a field day with "Force Touch" and rightfully so). But it'll sell a metric ton for a number of reasons - marketing, user base locked into their ecosystem, etc.

Name me one vendor doing anything interesting right now? Moto might have something with the Pure but that's only due to how they're selling the device. The device itself is, like, every other Android device on the market in late 2015.
 
Disagree. cRapple phones have NEVER offered removable batteries nor SD card slots. This is more a copy-cat of how cRapple tries to squeeze more money out of the people who use their phones than anything. And losing removable battery and SD card slot is a bigger deal than you are making it out to be. Joe-blow user who doesn't follow what tech/phones like people on these forums will find out the hard way that it was kind of nice to be able to change our your battery and have extra/needed storage via SD card. How the media spins this, or how Joe-blow no-nothing reacts initially are not the issue. If there are enough sheeple that will just buy whatever new version of whatever phone they have been using then yes, we are all screwed to being forced into less and less options/features being put onto new devices. But I think that the backlash will be strong enough that this will work it's way out eventually.

You mean the giant backlash that has propelled Apple to record breaking profits year after year?

People don't care about SD cards and batteries. Non-starter for the vast majority of consumers.
 
I agree with Teegunn. The majority of *pple users will buy practically anything that *pple puts out there. How can there be any competition for them when their customers are not even looking at any other options. It almost seems as if they are brainwashed. The majority just wants *pple period !
Android users on the other hand seem to be a lot more discerning and not as brand loyal. Samsung's competition comes from just about every cell phone manufacturer out there. Everyone with a Note 2, 3, 4 looking to upgrade would of probably been a big market for the note 5. I think Sammy lost a lot more of those than they might have realized with the things they took away from the Note. Only the majority of new buyers would not be as concerned with those missing items.
I also think for the majority the thrill of having to get a new cell every year is starting to fade away, unless you come out with something that will blow your socks off. The Note 5 I feel just doesn't even come close to doing that over the older series of note phones. Heck it is even considered a downgrade by a lot of folks toting a note 4, ME included.
Samusng isn't * pple, android users are not going to buy anything they put out there, especially when you start taking away to many previous features in one fell swoop.
Samsung can't get away with the things that *apple does, and by copying them they are going down they wrong path.
Slogan : *pple wannabe.

Well I'm not going to sit here & try to come up with a new slogan for Samsung. I think that's just juvenile.
Like many of you I'm not happy with what they did with the Note 5--redefining the Note line we used to know.

I'm tired of reading about 'power users' like they're the only people who use a Note. I haven't had a phone yet without multiple batteries I could swap out at any time....I will not be reduced to wallhugger status!

My SD cards hold photos, music & movies. The 'Cloud' is not an end all be all option & no slogan is going to change the fact that Samsung didn't screw us..... They screwed themselves!

Apple has created a very restricted set up for their phone for a reason - giving the customer of apple phones one choice. The choice apple says is "best" for you. When the irony and truth is that it is an ecosystem best for them, not the comsumer. Also keep in mind Android has something around 80% of the worlds smartphone market share. Because they aren't apple. Flexibility and options are the hallmarks of Android, and losing that to copy Apple is a big mistake for Android based companies long term IMHO.

I dislike ANY company that creates such a locked down environment with the primary purpose of making more money off of the customer. If Android goes that route they will lose market share, not gain it.
