Help Sun Cult App

josef46

Newbie
I have downloaded the sun cult app for androids but cannot figure out how to install it. I can find it under my files download history 6 times. I just don't know what to do. I've had no problem downloading and installing other apps.

Where did you download it from? My guess is that it was not from the play store... so go to; my files, SD card, downloads, choose app. Then you will have to allow it to install from unknown source and if the app is good it should run

Good luck

No idea what that app is, but I'd be careful installing anything that doesn't come directly from the Google Play Store. If you're certain it doesn't contain malware and still want to install it, you need to enable "Unknown Sources" under phone Settings-->Security. Then you can use a file explorer like ES File Explorer or something similar to install the .apk file.

This is my first cell phone. I'm a 100% disabled Veteran and my kids and wife wanted me to have 1.
That said, I did not get it from the play store and if that's a no no, I'll never do it again.
I go to my files and do not find a sd card. I find it under download history.

Presently I don't believe I intend to install it even if I could. I only mention it because of my inability to find my sd card.
What would you recommend for virus protection??
And thanks very much for your help.

Hi,

It's not advised to download apps unless they're from the Play store as they may contain malware.

Personally i use Avast for an antivirus, some people say you don't need 1 but it can't hurt, also it is free and has a free anti theft for locating your phone if it's lost etc ;)

If you can find the APK that you downloaded just tap on it and it will ask you to install, if it's not doing that then maybe there is a problem with the APK you downloaded.

This my personal favourite file manager, if you download anything it should automatically go into the download folder in the file manager.

Hope that helps ;)

EDIT What is / does the app do anyway? I can't seem to find any info on it at all, anywhere.

I would install ES File Explorer

It will allow you to see the whole directory structure of your phone, including your SD card if you have one installed. The Google Play Store is already pre-loaded on your phone. If you look at your apps you'll see an icon for Play Store.

If you only download apps from the Play Store you should not need an anti-virus program. Most of them just give you a false sense of security and don't actually protect you from anything.

Good luck and enjoy your new smart phone.

I run sun cult on my lap top, it tells you twilight begins, sunrise begins, moonrise etc. It also has a calendar that you can select any day of the year and get that same information, I really really like it but of course some might find it a little esoteric.

If you like it and you trust the website then download it and use it :)
If you see that you're getting any issues with your phone afterwards, uninstall it...
It should be in your "download" folder on your internal sd card ("device storage")...
Like already stated you will have to "allow unknown sources" for it to be able to install

I have quite a few apps that I use from external websites.
