ok so i'll admit. i'm a total super n00b when it comes to these things. I bought a captivate a year and a half ago or so when i was still living in america. i'm teaching in china now. before i left i had att unlock the phone so i could use china mobile. worked great. have a china mobile sim card been using perfectly. well here i am six months later and my phone froze up and when i restarted it, it wanted the unlock code again. att has been no help. at all. so i figured i would root my phone and see if that would work. well i downloaded the zip file, renamed it, loaded on my phone, followed all the instructions ya'll have, very easy instructions by the way, re-installed the package and my phone rebooted. but as soon as it did it came back with the unlock code question and if i say dismiss it still won't recognize the china mobile sim card. i'm not even sure if it rooted my phone or not. how do i know? and is there anyway to get rid of that unlock code deal without paying a bunch of money?
