I haven't tried it, but it looks promising. Moto D1 and D2 are NOT on the incompatibility list.

This program looks to be recent as of 10/9 - I didn't look at all of the instructions as I don't need it right now.

Works flawlessly on my Droid 2. LoL, It came out just in time when I un-rooted and did a full wipe. It was extremely easy to root again!

Only if what ever you are doing requires it. So, to answer your questions simply, no.

When i put the phone in usb debugging mode it asks for drivers!!! do i have to install any drivers to start this process.

When i just start the program and click root i get a waiting for device error

Yes you MUST install the Motorola drivers

Works if you lost root by using the full SBF with 2.3.20!

Sorry for the stupid question, but will the USB drivers I installed from Motorola for my D1 work on the D2, or are they different?
-A few hours away from getting my D2, trying to figure out everything I can before it's in my hands.

No they arent different. I would say still redownload the latest from moto.

Also - When doing this and plugging into your computer, PC Mode has never worked for me with Debugging (and many others) but Charging Mode DOES work with debugging.

...try one of the compatible apps and follow the instructions. SuperOne, Z4Root, for example. Check in some of the D2G threads for more information.
