Root Superuser not working after update

So, I realized I hadn't installed Root Explorer and was about to when I noticed that SU had just updated. Figured "No worries", right?

Well, after installing Root Explorer, I get a blank screen and it tells me to restart the app. None of my other apps that require root are working now, either.

Under Superuser information, it says: Su binary vnull
I tap to check for update. It tells me that the current is 3.0.1 and installed is "legacy".
I hit update and it downloads and checks MD5 okay but it stays stuck on "Gaining root access"

Any ideas on how to fix this? Maybe just uninstall and DL again from the market?

TIA

Cleared data, but "Clear Cache" was grayed out. Still stuck at "Gaining root access..."

Edit: Uninstalling the update and trying to update the binary from Su 3.0 results in FC.

Edit: Attempting to reinstall Su via ZIP from ChainsDD's site from recovery. *crosses fingers*

Edit: Still got FCs and after updating again to 3.0.6 the binary update is still stuck at "Gaining root access..."

Edit: I wiped and re-flashed BACKside again. Su did update again, but I didn't try to update the binary and all seems good to go.

My brother and I had the exact same problem. Do not update the binary or you will have to reflash the rom or use one of the backups
