Root superuser/root issues

My friend just brough her nook back to me all messed up. First problem. Superuser is denying access to all apps. I can't even find the SU app anywhere on the nook. Thought it would be an easy fix, With a fresh install. (Currently running cm10.1, I believe it was a stable version) tried to use too to boot to recovery with SU denying access I can't get to cwm. Issue 2. When I couldt find SU app I wanted to check root. Used root checker and its saying no root. I can't find any of my SD cards or else I'd just make a bootable recovery card. Does anyone have any input on this?

Oops. I ment I tried to use Goo manager to boot into cwm

Can't you press the home button at startup to boot into recovery to reflash the rom?

Your awesome. I didn't no you could get to recovery that way. I just always used Goo. It worked but I gota wait for battery to charge. Thanks
