Root **SUPPORT** unlocking bootloader (official)

I feel like a real idiot here now but this way is completely new to me and is baffling me. Not new to rooting etc but I am new to this LG way. I am following instructions here I've filled in the details on next page up to device ID and gone back to developer.android.com and downloading "Android SDK" but while that's downloading it says I need to make sure I have the correct JDK installed and to check in terminal. Where do I get the terminal from? There will likely be more questions after this if someone is going to be about to help...

Bootloader Unlocked :)
Now, did I read somewhere that I just need to download SuperSU and choose a root option in there to root now with the bootloader unlocked? I assume this won't wipe the phone again? Where do I get recovery from to create Nandroid before I start trying to find ROMs/Xposed etc please?
**Edit**
OK I think I found it but I'm not going to go ahead until I have confirmation as last time I did something like this I bricked. I am following this guide. Obviously I have already done steps 1-5 unlocking bootloader. However after this it says
"COPY SuperSu and the downloaded TWRP file onto your phone (i put it in the download folder in the phone, not the SD) so you are ready for the next steps"
but then in the next breath it says "Be sure TWRP is in the folder." which I assume means in the SDK-Tools folder I made from the mini SDK? So I can reboot into Bootloader from there using the next command?

I think that's similar to what I did, except I used the TWRP Manager app to permanently flash the recovery as opposed to Flashify.

I think I had issues with TWRP sticking so I booted to recovery (as opposed to flashing), installed SU, rebooted, then used TWRP Manager to flash the recovery permanently.

Into the stock recovery to flash? I don't understand in the link I posted, do I need to have the TWRP and SuperSU in my phone or in the sdk-tools folder?
Sorry if I'm being daft, I just want to make doubly sure what I'm doing is right before I kill it. Attached is whats in SDK folder. I need to navigate to that in cmd with whats in there and

adb reboot bootloader

fastboot boot p1.img

That's definitely it? Because I think I hit problems last time due to having to extract kdz a couple of times to get the correct .img extension. There is nothing in the file that p1 relates to. Do I need to do something to twrp-2.8.7.0-h815 before commencing this flash?

Perfect, thanks. Pool night tonight so won't be doing anything now. Used to there being a how-to on the subforums ha.

No worries.

I did toy with a guide, but figured the amount of people who would need it vs. my time (which is at a premium at the moment) wasn't worth it. :(

Rather than respond here, I'll make sticky.

Well I found another guide and in that one it said the full name like I had so I went along with that and now rooted and recovery installed :) now the fun begins...

Good Job you are here, was just about to flash MM ROM. Thanks I'll take a look over there. Then try and work on Xposed.

Yeah, take it from the other thread by the looks of things.

Looking at the Install Directions, not Super Duper Safe Install Instructions, he does say if you use the boot.zip he provides, you have to mess about with files in recovery.

It's a good thing you noticed that as I didn't :p.

Yeah, you'll be stock MM, rooted.

So which download is the boot.img on the other page then? The download 20b down the bottom? Comes back as LG-H815-20b-stock_rooted.zip
in there it have boot.imp and couple things in META-INF file so guess that is it?

Also, after this it will wipe phone I guess won't it? It's sort of dirty flashing as no mention of wipe unless this process just wipes it anyway?

That is stock, installing gensiys as we speak.
I am having trouble getting into twrp without the app, aren't i supposed to be able to get into it by power and vol-, let go and hold down again?
Also did you install xposed then flash arm64 in twrp?

the tutorial for doing this are very important, i am just sorry to hear your time is so limited! I was considering one day booting and Android device and would def need folks like you to wrtie instructions , and share the knowledge! so cool ! when i had my blackberry, there was so much good , informative stuff posted for them, it was a great thing , without it , nothing could get done ! I personally appreciate folks that can share the knowledge ! thanks !!

The other way around I think. Although doesn't gensiys come with xposed preinstalled?

I've no idea about booting from recovery with the keys btw, I always either use the app or terminal emulator. I've looked at the instructions to booting the G4 to recovery and it looks needlessly over complicated for something that's so simple. (I'm not saying it is complicated, just that they could've made it easier).
