Supposedly coming September 3rd

I have a Galaxy Note 4 (her name is Alicia). I was looking forward to retiring her in favor of a Note 5 until the Note 5 reveal truly disappointed me - no microSD slot! So I'm exploring other options.

And the Moto X Pure looks to be exactly what I'm looking for: microSD slot, rapid charging, 5.7" QHD screen with 520 PPI and front-facing stereo speakers. Customizable, and pure Android so the updates will come hard and fast. And NO CARRIER BLOATWARE! Perfect!

So I'm tracking this phone closely. Are you? What are your reasons for wanting this phone, and do you see any downside to it?

I too was interested in the NOTE-5, until Verizon no longer subsidizes phones on contract, so, the price of the Note-5 made me look at alternatives. I like the looks of the Moto-X for most of the above described reasons, dual front speaker, great screen, would like wireless charging as an option, but, I guess you can't have everything. At nearly have the price, I'm taking a hard look at the Moto-X-Pure.

I am tracking it closely. Watching YouTube previews. I am excited. Would have easily purchased a Note 5 if it had a MicroSD slot, in turn, if this phone did not, I would not give it a second look.

Pros: Screen size and resolution, Processors, RAM, Camera, PRICE!, Non Carrier branding or bloat, 14 LTE bands, CDMA or GSM, Video Stabilization (demo looked impressive) , tons of colors and back to choose from, front facing spreakers, rapid charge

Cons: No fingerprint reader (not a deal breaker), it is not September 3rd yet...

I plan on getting a 64GB from Best Buy. The device has a lot of strong points that IMO make it an obvious choice for most consumers, but the 3000 mah battery is a concern. Not seeing how things are going to work out well for a 5.7" 1440p LCD display and a 3000 mah battery. Motorola is touting the fast charging, but that does no good if out and nowhere to charge.

Sadly I think it is more likely the battery life is going to not be good and that is why Motorola touted the fast(rapid) battery charging. I would hope they know the faster you charge a battery, the faster the charge capacitance is impacted. I would turn fast charging off.

I hear you. Battery is always a concern. I am currently carry a HTC One m8 without a replaceable battery. If I am away from places I can charge, my portable battery pack in my backpack, it is a lifesaver. It will charge my phone very fast.

Is there any particular advantage(or disadvantage), such as price, availability, etc, for buying from Best Buy vs Amazon vs Direct from the Moto-Maker site??

I think I saw the Non-Moto-Maker sites/stores will have less design choices, but, other than that is there any reason to buy from one or the other??

I think you get better warranty with Best Buy. Moto Maker lets you customize it to the nth degree. Amazon? Couldn't tell you the benefit other than 2 day shipping. I plan to customize mine, so it's Moto Maker for me with a (hopefully) 1 or 2 day shipping option.

I switching from the Note 4 for all the same reasons! The Note 5 is very disappointing. The camera is a big draw, along with front facing speakers and the SD card slot. Plus the price isn't bad either! I might buy at Best Buy for their warranty. I'll ave to research that. I've never purchased a phone from them.

I guess you can buy their Geek Squad extended warranty, but, it's no better than the others, still has crazy deductible if you make a claim. Is there any warranty that comes with it, just because it's from Best Buy??

My Discover card doubles manufacturers warranty up to 1 year, so, I'll at least have that no matter where I get it. Check with your favorite credit card, some others have similar benefits.

I did already buy the case from Amazon, should arrive by Tuesday, so, I'll already have a holster for it. Dunno what BB has in the way of holsters?!?!?!? $12.99 on amazon was a cheap enough investment.

Yeah, I wouldn't normally buy the case before the phone, but, since I plan to go into the store to get it, I want to already have the case. $13 is cheap investment.

It's September 1 and TWO DAYS TO GO! I'm starting to get nervous, tough: the Motorola site still says "Available fall 2015" and fall doesn't start until later in the month. I don't think anyone here is on more pins and needles than me

Well, I guess this means Motorola will release the phone between September 23 - December 21, 2015.
