Miui that I think you've said you've never seen has a battery bar that goes right across the top of the screen indicating battery charge. Its basically just a line of pixels. I have been looking for this .apk or mod for a long time and it isn't in any kitchen that I can see, so how difficult is it and what do I need to write it myself?

No its not in the kitchen. However, if ask in the kitchen thread at XDA:

[MOD][04/19] UOT Kitchen (Ultimate Online Theme Kitchen) version 4.0 - xda-developers

Medozinas may ask you to upload a framework-res.apk from Miui to look at it.

It may be very complicated though and I assume will involve heavy modification of XML files in framework.

I do have a very limited knowledge of themes though, so not really best placed to answer this. Sorry :(

Slightly off topic. Im going to flash a new radio on my desire. But I want to verify the MD5sum of the radio. I used to use Fastsum but its no longer free to me so any recommendations?

1 question. The radio is packed in a zip file. Can I simply extract the radio.img out and flash it through fastboot?

Yes thats exactly what you do.

The zip is for recovery flash. You flash in recovery, it unpacks it into /cache and installs it.

Fastboot directly flashes radio.img > Bypass recovery and /cache completely.

I figured that out eventually. I know I could've flashed it through recovery but felt It was wiser to do It through fastboot. Anyways job done.. I am on 5.14.5.17 now. Im hoping my wi fi and reception signals doesnt fluctuates badly as it did on 5.11.5.27

If the new radio doeseney fix the problem a different kernel might.

Thought kernels only govern the battery? Im pretty content with MIUI kernel atm so Im hoping I dont have to touch that.

Kernels deal with EVERYTHING! They be very easy to flash. Just make sure you flash it after the rom, otherwise the rom will overwrite it.

Yeah Im aware rom overwrite them. I tried Vorkernels before but the battery was terrible so I think I'll look at Coutts now.
