Help Swap Carriers oddity

Lurker
So I recent switched from ATT to Sprint using a buy out offer and cut my bill in half. I was having troubles with coverage from ATT. I know this isn't android related but I wanted to know if this happened to anyone else before.

So the policy was I sent them my final bill and they paid my installments off in full which they did via sending me two AMEX cards. I paid off ATT and then waited for return kits for my ATT phones to go to sprint. This is where it gets weird. I paid off ATT over 2 weeks ago... I switched in September... I never received return kits so I called Sprint and they said they have my phones logged as returned and I have no further Action. I told them I never returned my phones and they said "well we are showing you did so there's nothing left for you to do".... I called twice and got the same answer ... Now I have an IPhone 6 Plus and LG G4 just sitting on my counter. I even checked their IMEI and they are clean... What am I supposed to do since sprint doesn't want to send me return kits for phones they say they already have?

Sell them on Swappa and/or craigslist.
That's exactly what I was thinking but I'm worried sprint may go back on their word somehow even though there's no way to prove it. It's entirely their fault. Not that 2 phones make much impact on a big company.

So that the purchaser can select a different carrier.
Ah gotcha. I tried unlocking the G4 via ATT request but the site is having issues right now. I'm not even gonna attempt the iPhone 6 Plus at this point. Unlocks are a lot easier to do nowadays anyways.

Yes, but the original owner must request the unlock code.
So out of curiosity I put my Sprints IPhone 6s Plus SIM into the ATT 6 plus and the ATT phone picked up network and worked normally. I guess they must have unlocked it after they were paid off.

Turns out it wasn't unlocked because at the end of the iPhone set up it said invalid sim carrier unsupported. I unlocked both phones this morning and now it will set up completely but when Its trying to activate service it says it failed and to restart the phone. I'm guessing my Sprint SIM is locked to the device I use on their network and won't work in my unlocked phone
