[Swiftkey] Notification to switch input method?

JohnJSal

After installing SwiftKey, I've noticed a notification in my notification bar that says "Select input method SwiftKey 3". I didn't notice if this used to be there before I installed SwiftKey.

Is this always there, or does it mean I have conflicting keyboards active or something? As far as I know, SwiftKey is the only one active.

Thanks.

Yeah it's normal. It appears once you have any keyboard other than the stock keyboard installed. Before there was that notification, you had to go into settings to change keyboards. You still can, but the notification just makes it easier.

So it's normal for it to always be there?

Always be there? Might be normal for SwiftKey, I don't know.

On my HTC Sensation with ICS and with stock keyboard, there is the keybord notification only when the keyboard is on the screen for using it.

Sorry, yes, that's what I meant. Always there when the keyboard is active.

Funny, doesn't do it on my phone (gingerbread), and I see nothing in settings.

This keyboard icon on the left side of the notification bar is on my Sensation after the update to ICS (Android 4.0.3 / Sense 3.6).

But on my One X with 4.0.4 (Sense 4.1) it's not anymore ... or I haven't found it in Settings yet ;)

This only happens in ICS as that introduced new copy and paste methods that use the long press in a text entry area (what used to be used for keyboard changing pre ICS).
