switch off stock camera app

Hi there,

My phone: HTC Desire S
Android: Android 4.0.4

I'm using a market camera app and won't use the stock camera app.
With others apps i can switch the app off so it not showing up in the app list.

As example i can turn off email app (i use Enhanced email for the email)
I can turn off gallery app (i use a different gallery app)

But by the camera app the turn off switch is grey, i can't push it.
Someone knows if and how it is possible to switch off the camera app?

Greets Kees.

1) That would indicate that it's installed as a system app, so I wouldn't recommend trying to disable it.

2) It's not "on", it's just sitting there in storage, the same as it would be if you disabled it. All disabling does is make it not show up in the drawer and other places apps show up. Disabling it won't save you storage space, battery, speed - anything.

Camera app is only active when running, so not being able to disable it should not be a concern. If you are trying to remove it from showing in the app drawer, that is a function of the launcher (i.e., "hide app"). I'm not sure about your Desire S, but hiding app drawer icons is a standard feature in recent Touchwiz releases, Apex, and Nove (and probably others).
