Switch to Verizon --- Better Think Again

I didn't mean by tomarrow. But I'm almost certain if you can port numbers into google, by U.S. law they have to let you port numbers out too.
I checked this on the Google Voice Q&A page. They specifically stated that numbers cannot be ported FROM Google Voice. As Google is not considered a "Utility" (common carrier), they are exempt from the Porting provision.

What was the date on the Q & A

I had an identical experience as well. About 3 years ago I was switching to verizon after tiring of AT&T's crappy network coverage. Well a couple of days after getting the phone, my work said they were going to give me a phone. So of course I went back to verizon and said 'no, dont want it anymore'. After returning everything they gave me some of the money I paid back and said the rest would be coming later. Well instead they sent me a bill for about $200 including the early termination fee. I ended up arguing with them for a bit and eventually they said they would refund it, but as they hadnt received notification of the phone being returned, they couldnt refund that. So I waited for a few more days and eventually the store did tell billing that the phone was received and I got everything credited back.
So, basically, exact same story. Theyre happy to take you as a customer, but want to give you as much trouble as possible when you leave.

Helpful hint for the snarky. When you purchase and then return a device at a indirect/third-party reseller, Customer Service has no way of knowing whether or not that device has been returned. Usually, when you get the ETF charged on your account for this situation, 9 times out of 10 it's because the reseller waited too long before doing their due diligence concerning your return and cancellation of service.

Keep that in mind, please. :)

never buy from third party retailers. either order online or go into a corp store.
i went into an authorized dealer store to buy my wifes Droid X. told the lady behind the counter that i wanted it and was going to pay full retail. i also told her that it will not be a new line activation, and that it was just going to take the place of the original droid and use an existing number. she opened a new line with it anyway, switched the number on the new line with the OG droid. i didnt realize it until i got my phone bill a week later. went back to the store and told them to shut it off. they wanted to charge me an ETF and i was like WTF, i told you i didnt need a new line thats why i paid full retail. called VZW corp to complain about it and they shut off the line. need less to say that this Authorized dealer has been doing this for sometime. i hope they get the boot from VZW soon. now i wont buy anything from retailers. just order it online or go into the corp stores and get it.

I had a pretty good experience when I bought my Samsung Glyde from Best Buy back when dinosaurs roamed the earth. A few months later, I bought the Dare at Best Buy also. I had a VZW store across the parking lot but they are a bunch of jerks and make you sign in before they'll even talk to you. After ignoring you for 20 minutes, they'll tell you that they don't have the Glyde. So I bought from Best Buy. They ran into some glitches in getting everything transfered over but there were no billing issues whatsoever.

That VZW store still sucks, but I bought by Droid 1 from them because I wanted to check our FiOS account and decided to get the phone then. I still order everything by calling or using the website if I can. I really hate the VZW store.

Hey K4KAI, I am glad they were able to get you sorted out.

I'm glad it all worked out for you. How were you able to return two phones when Verizon's policy is that you are only allowed one exchange? So once you moved from the X to the Incredible under the normal policy you wouldn't be allowed to do a return/exchange.
