Switching from eris to inc, good idea?

Ive had my eris for quite a while now, but i just hate the keyboard lag, the crappy processor and the horrible design (to me). I really like the inc. for the processor (although the droid has a better processor), the amazing screen, the nice design, but im still curious on some things. I was wondering if the inc. has keyboard lag (in landscape and portrait), the screen cant be viewed in sunlight very well, if the phone really ever slows down at all, or if there are any other bad issues with this phone that just wont make it worth getting and waiting for another great phone. I want to use this for a year and a half too... thanks in advance!

Yes. The Inc is pretty much a buffed up version of the Eris. No keyboard lag that I know of. The phone rarely slows down but I don't know any phone that never does. The sunlight issue is solved with a brightness widget. You just have to crank the brightness up to 100 every time.

For me I came from the Eris as well. the Eris was maybe built a little better, but the speed of this is great, and yea, I'm within 30 days so I could get a diff. phone, but I'm staying with the Inc.!

Which Droid are you talking about?
The 1Ghz on the Incredible is one of the best processors you can get on a phone today.

I don't really have the screen issue - it's not the easiest thing to see, but you can make out enough. Worst comes to worst, you hold the phone in your shadow and you're all set. Auto brightness cranks up the brightness all the way and it works for me.

I haven't experienced any keyboard lag - the only time I really get lag is when it installs apps. You'll want to get a case that protects the camera (well, I did, at least) becuase it does protrude. Normally, it is at an angle, so the doesn't rest on any surfaces, but I still went for the case.

You'll also want an extended battery of some kind, I think. I got the Seidio 1750. It came before my phone, so I never really used the stock battery - who knows, maybe that'll be adequate for you.

The only issue I have is sometimes, the phone will heat up a lot while I'm doing normal tasks - web browsing, youtube, etc. I emailed HTC and they said it can be replaced by the warranty. I don't really feel like sending it out, and my screen protector is already on, and it's really too much of a hassle to justify. It doesn't happen that often, and hasn't seemed to have hurt the phone yet.

I would do it, my friend has an Eris and he's alwasy complaining about the lag. I'm sure with 2.2, the Inc will be even faster, and it's supposed to have better battery life, as well.

Thanks! i just hate the lag all the time on my eris... ill be sure to look at it more. I just dont know about the snapdragon... it seems the droids processor is the best but i already got the extended battery for my eris so i know that will fit in the incredible. And does anyone know if this thing will last past a year and a half? i need this phone to last all day on one charge on the 1750 mah battery and it does on my eris most of the time.

I love the incredible but I would give the X a try. I don't regret getting the incredible but have heard great things about the X. It is big though.

I saw this thread and I almost fell off my chair. Good idea? How about a great idea? No offense, but the Eris was the biggest POS ever invented. And yes, I had the misfortune to own one.

Came from Eris to incredible and I agree with the poster who said that the Eris is built better.... but that's definitely it. The Inc is so much faster and smoother it seems many generations ahead.

I'm an Eris user with a only a week or so left in my 1-year contract and I'm leaning towards the Incredible as a replacement too.

My only real concern is the battery life. I'd like to keep the device slim as I have it in my pocket all day at work but would probably splurge for the HTC/Verizon 1500mah battery that can fit in the normal case. I always soft silcone cases for my phones but don't want to do surgery on one for a larger battery. I could also use my Eris' battery as a backup but don't want to pull the back off the Incredible too much.

If I get the Incredible I'll see if I can get through the day with the 1300mah. I make it through just fine with lots to spare with the 1300mah in my Eris unless I find a game that me or my coworkers like during a lull (damn you, Air Control!). :)

The other two phones under my consideration are too big to really be pocketable (the Droid X...two of my coworkers have them and I've tried to pocket it) and have moving parts (Droid 2) but I like the "candy bar" form factor.

My wife and I got the eris and then I went to inc. as soon as they came out. Incredible is way better in every way. Whenever I have to do something on her phone I am reminded of how much faster mine is.

I had the Eris for 8 months and HATED it. The keyboard lag was horrible, it was so slow I almost threw it the window a few times trying to get directions. The Inc. Is so much better in so many ways. Imo the Inc. over the Eris is a no brainer
