Switching from nexus 4

Hi everybody thinking about switching to this phone from my nexus 4. Are there any disadvantages to this switch?. Would I get the same h+ speeds on the Moto g?. I was considering the nexus 5, either that or waiting for the 6 if there are too many negatives. I appreciate the help and advice. Thank you,

Interested in replies for a different reason. I've been waiting for the Nexus 6 and was perfectly happy with my (rooted) Nexus 4 . . . until I dropped it the other day and shattered the screen. Would have powered through with the unsightly screen but it no longer responds to touch so it's pretty useless. Didn't want to spend big bucks on an interim phone - and sure didn't want to spend $$ on the N5 a month or so before it gets surpassed - so searched around and found the Boost Mobile version of the Moto G for under $80 new at Amazon. Will be here Friday and then I'll go prepay with Boost until whatever The Next Big Thing (tm) turns out to be (maybe Nexus, maybe not). In the meantime will be reading this forum to catch up on G do's and don'ts and tips.

Edit - ah, never mind, see I picked the wrong forum and can't see a way to delete (mods, feel free). Since Boost's version came out in 2014 I thought this was the correct forum but now see it's really "2nd Gen" Moto G, though I understand why it's referred to as 2014.

I got this phone to replace my Nexus 4. After the update to KitKat my N4 started having all kinds of frustrating problems.

I bought my Moto G direct from Motorola. I have had it for a couple of days now and like it a lot. I wasn't sure if 5" would be too big, but it's not that much bigger than the N4. I got the Global GSM version since I travel a good bit. Performance-wise it seems to be on par with the N4 for the sorts of things I do. I have a T-mob prepaid plan and the SIM works fine with this phone. I am in DC so we have the highspeed 1900 data frequency. In my apartment I see Edge some of the time but I use wifi here anyway. At my office I get H+ speed. Listening to internet radio at the office or in the car has worked perfectly.

Overall I am extremely impressed. The only issue I have had is that I was expecting it to be the dual SIM version since I got the Global phone, but it is only 1 SIM. I contacted Motorola about that and they told me that for the US market you only get one SIM slot no matter which version you buy. Seems dumb to me.

I think it's a great phone. Having the microSD helps a lot. I have all my music there and some apps install on the SD card. So far I have absolutely zero regrets

You will get HSPA+ if you buy the US GSM model of the phone if your going to be using T-Mobile. If your using AT&T then it doesn't matter you can either get the US GSM or Global GSM model since AT&T uses 1900 PCS band for HSPA+

The Global GSM version WILL work on T-Mobile but ONLY at 2G/EDGE unless your live in a market where T-Mobile has re-farmed to the 1900 PCS band for HSPA+. The Global GSM version is more optimized for AT&T's network
