Switching keyboards when docked?

chunkdude

Newbie
so when im using my prime without the dock, i use swiftkey. When i dock, i want it to switch to the asus/android keyboard. i can still type, but theres a few nitpicky things. Like if im typing a question on the phyiscal keyboard with swiftkey on, and i end with a question mark by hitting SHIFT ? on the keyboard, it capitalizes the first letter of the last word.

example:
Hey how's it Going?

so is there an easy way to have it switch input methods when i dock, or is there a way to just use swiftkey and not have it battle with the physical keyboard

I like SwiftKey a lot but there's a few annoying things it'll fight you with. As someone who is getting a dock soon I'm also curious about this.

I use Thumb Keyboard when not docked and the physical keyboard when docked. This is the correct way to type on the Prime. Using the screen to type when docked sounds extremely cumbersome

I'm not using the screen to type when docked... But when I type with the keyboard, SwiftKey still tries to impose its rules... The word windows appear on the bottom of the screen, and like i said, little things like always hitting space after a comma, SwiftKey puts one in and then i hit space and it throws a word into the sentence. Or the question mark capitalizating the last word of a Question? Or not letting me type the word capitalizing without having to tap the screen

That is really odd, does the onscreen keyboard still show up? I havent used Swiftkey but the Asus keyboard/ ICS keyboard/ and Thumb keyboard don't do anything like this. Docking is supposed to automatically turn off the onscreen keyboard. Could be a bug with Swiftkey?

What might work is an app called Tasker, look that up im not even positive it works on the prime, or without root

essentially its a condition/trigger app

IF location is home, THEN set wallpaper to XYZ1
IF location is work, THEN set wallpaper to XYZ4
IF dock is detected, THEN set active keyboard Swiftkey
etc

again not positive if it will work ..but if you want to do something, when a condition is met (docked/undocked) then this is the app for you.
