Switching Phones

So I'm getting the Droid on Friday. My problem is I am really hard on phones. I have tried every way to protect them that I can to no avail. I work in Power plants about one week out of every month and I'm wondering; How hard would it be to switch from the Droid to my old phone while I'm out of town? Can I just dial *228? Is there a cost?

On verizon I just go to the site and reactivate another phone if I want to switch phones, takes about 10 minutes and I think it's free (pretty sure it is)

I carry one of the casio waterproof phones on my kayak, and I simply go online (Keep it bookmarked) and swap phones from my BB Curve to it before I leave, and back when I return.



I've never been charged for switching.
