switching to AT&T questions

Thinking about switching my phones to AT&T from Verizon since i will save about $25 a month. Will lose my unlimited data in exchange to 4gb per month but should be fine. My questions: 1-Can anyone tell me how the speeds, specifically 4G speeds, are in the Atlanta area. 2-I'd like to switch soon but have an outrageous ETF with VZW, anyone know of a way to get AT&T to help with that?

I can't answer the question about Atlanta LTE speeds, but AT&T speeds seem to match Verizon in general.

As for help with the ETF, AT&T isn't going to offer anything - I know they didn't offer me anything. They're big enough where they don't feel like they have to "buy" customers as much as just convince them they'd get a better deal. So, if it's worth it to you, I'd swallow the ETF and just go ahead and do it. If it isn't, then you should just stick with Verizon until you can afford to jump ship.

Good luck!

I have at&t service and love it but if I were in your position with a grandfathered in unlimited data plan, nothing on God's green earth could get me to switch service providers and lose that data plan. Especially not a $25 monthly savings.

If your not going to be going into rural area's often why not look to t mobile they are rolling out lte and its fast but even in areas without lte yet hspa+ 42 is damn fast and the savings for single line is great. or even more savings straight talk tmobile or the like.

I gave up unlimited a year ago and it has not been a problem. At least for me, wifi is everywhere.

That depends on your location, primarily.

+1 - There's a good deal of variability from place to place and from store to store in service and customer service. But, having used both AT&T and Verizon, I really don't notice that much difference myself between the two. In my case, it's just that AT&T has better service where I work at and definitely has a better selection of phones.

In the end, it's all about what works best for you because different folks have different needs and experiences.
