Switching to Launcher Pro

Hi all,

I would like to switch to Launcher Pro as my default launcher, but first need to find alternatives for the following widgets;

HTC Calendar
HTC Email
HTC Messages

Thanks, for any recommendations.

Been using LP for almost as long as I've owned my Desire. Nearly a year. Awesome launcher. Tried them all, and always come back to LP.
I use Handcent for sms, and Pure calendar grid for my calendar. Chomp, and, Go are both good sms apps. Touch calendar is also good, but only has a widget with the paid version.

Hope this helps.

Andy.

Been using LP for around 6 months now. In place of the Sense widgets you mention I use Pure Calendar and Pure Messenger - messenger will cover texts, emails, facebook, twitter and to do lists.

Both cost but are well worth the money - so many options and skins.

If you prefer, buy the 'Plus' version of LP and it has its own Sense replacement widgets. No mail one though, although it has been promised.

I have been using LP Pro for a while now and love it.
I am using Handscent, though I have tried all the other possibles as well. Handscent seemed to do all the things I needed a SMS app to do.
For emails I have stuck with the Gmail app as it is simple and easy, supports push and I have a googlemail account.
I am using Business Calendar Free as my calendar. Again have used a few of the calendar app and it ticks a majority of the my boxes.
Ultimately, you are free to try as many apps as you like and make an informed choice once you've played with them.

Enjoy.

Steve

my list goes as follow;

SMS - Handcent
EMAIL - Native Gmail App
CALENDAR - Built in one in LauncherPro PLUS OR Jorte....I do switch between the too a lil

Okay, thanks for all the quick replies. If I buy Launcher Pro Plus, will I get the future widgets that are released for free?

the only problem with that from what I can see is that fede seems to have dropped off at the moment and we havent had any updates or even posts from him in a while..

granted Im just getting that from the comments section on the LauncherPro site....and some have said hes still in the forum...

The reason we haven't gotten any updates in a while is that he is rewriting LP from the ground up. At least from what I understand.

well yea thats what we've been hearing for awhile now, but from what I see he used to post a few update posts up but nothing since the 1.8.3 update.

doesnt stop me using it :D

i really hope you meant 0.83 because that's all i have.....

:o Oops....yea I meant that version...I've updated way to much lately and the numbers are confusing me lol

ALTHOUGH I could have 1.8.3 if I was say sent back from the future and theres only one thing to say...

"once we get this launcher up to 88mph, your going to see some serious shit!" :p

I used ADW Launcher for a couple of weeks but found it to be unreliable on occasions.
Random lag, not reloading launcher after using a memory intensive apps and the bottom bar vanishing on occasions.
I switched back to Sense and although I miss some of the launcher options my phone is much more stable, reliable and the UI feels more robust now.

Is that just a ADW thing and is Launcher pro better?

LauncherPro plus (paid) has its own widgets on those but, there's Pure Calendar Widget and Pure Messenger Widget which I like.

Also using Laucher Pro here. There are enough widgets/apps to use with it, so that you get many customizable options. Works well with a Gingerbread ROM.

Too bad the dev is taking MONTHS for the rewriting of the app. He said he was going to make it way more stable.. Seems he lost interest.

I installed this yesterday after reading this thread. Pretty nice.

My only issue is that the app drawer has the slightest bit of stutter when scrolling whereas the Ginger Villain one was very fluid.

Ok, thanks for all the suggestions I've made the switch  I let you guys know in a couple days if I've decided to stick with Launcher Pro.

I'm fairly certain I read a post of his somewhere apologizing for delay but he was having some personal issues. Fair enough.

I've been using Launcher Pro Plus for quite a while now and am perfectly happy with the LPP widgets for these. I've tried others but always come back to the LPP ones.

I dont really like the LPP widgets, but the pop-ups are great. If I ever go back to sense (not happening) I would probably continue using the replacements I use on LPP too.

Namely, Pure messenger and pure grid calendar.
