Help Switching to Motorola triumph questions

Newbie
Hi guys! I'm new. i currently own an Optimus v. and i love it. i have it running on stock software. But its time for an upgrade. Income tax time is here and i want to get the Motorola triumph. But with all the problems ive heard im just a litle worried. Either i bu the optimus slider or the triumph hoping to get a good model. the only other option i have is to add CM7 or MIUI to get rid of most of the problems that come with the triumph. i NEED to know others opinions. Ive looked at the instructions for doing these. But they sometimes seem to go over my head.

I like my Triumph.

I would recommend CM7 if you get it. We can help walk you through stuff if you decide to go that route. One really cool thing about the Triumph that is often overlooked is that it is phenomenally hard to brick (haven't seen it happen yet), so if you ever get into trouble we can help sort that out too.

Great. I think that's what I might end up doing.... So as of rite now the only problems with CM7 is running bluetooth and wifi at the same time, and switching the camera from front to back??

I too came from an OV to the Triumph. My wife and I both have Triumph's, and neither one has any real issues.
Mine is rooted, bloatware removed, hers is stock. While I loved the OV, I haven't looked back, bigger screen, faster processor, more memory. What's not too love?:D
If you do have problems, there are more than enough very helpful people here to help you through them.
Enjoy your new Triumph!!!

Well, the BT/WiFi is being worked on as we speak and might be fixed (still testing). The camera stuff is not an issue (at least I don't think it has been for quite a while, but I hardly use the FFC). HDMI does not work on CM7 or MIUI. If BT/WiFi gets worked out then HDMI is the only big issue left software wise.

The phone gets a bad rap from some folks. I don't think it is necessarily deserved. It has some issues (mine never had many, and none that were major). But much of the complaining comes from people who haven't even owned/used it, and that makes no sense to me. That's just people buying into hype. There are others who have bought the phone and had issues and voiced that (and they have every right to do so), those hold more weight with me. Some Triumphs are junk and they should not be sold/mailed as replacements. It's more a quality control issue than a phone issue (even though QC is part of stuff for the phone).

Some folks have reported having to return a couple phones until they got one they were happy with, so be aware of that. But being that it is free to do so, I wouldn't worry too much about that (especially if you have an OV to fall back on for a couple days if the issues are something major). Just test stuff out on the stock ROM first and make sure the hardware works right. The warranty from VM is supposed to cover hardware issues, and rooting/ROMing will void the warranty. I know people have told them they rooted and still got things covered, but I wouldn't want to risk that personally.

Great!! My mom hasnt brought me the phone yet. But thats what I'm going to do for sure. I'm gathering as much info as possible. HDMI not working isnt a problem at all for me.

I will be taking the time out to test the phone for 3 weeks or so, to see if any of the problems are present in my model. From then ill decide to get a refund, request another device, or install CM7. I read from some site( I cant remember) that the triumphs from bestbuy seemed to be faulty or more persistent with the bugs, than the one's sold at radioshaq and/or virgin mobile stores.

Seems like a good plan as you have 30 days to return it for your money back. :)

If you really like the phone and it has some issues you don't like (that I am sure you have read about being known for this phone) I would recommend getting a replacement until you find one that works for you (that can take a number of returns sometimes).

I got mine from Best Buy, so I can't say that the second part of your statement is necessarily the truth (not that you are lying or anything :p). I think that is an issue of people drawing conclusions on their experience (circumstantial at best) rather than any sort of empirical evidence. That may not be wrong, but it hasn't been proven in any real way either.

So how are things going with the Triumph? Are there any major red flags? I've wanted it for a while, I have the Optimus V right now, but I rooted it and am having quite a few issues (nothing that can't be fixed). I just think it's time for a new phone (prolly a bad habbit lol).
