Switching to Rush from Prevail question

I just received a Rush to replace my Prevail and I am one of the ones that is grandfathered in under the $35 shrinkage plan. I know that this has been discussed a few times, but I have two questions. I am hoping that someone who was also grandfathered in with a Prevail and switched could answer them for me.

First, if you go online and update your handset through your online account, will you lose $5 of your current shrinkage? I have researched this online and seen conflicting answers. Some say that you only lose your shrinkage if you call and go through a rep and that if you do it online you won't. Others say it doesn't matter whether it is with a rep or online, either way you will lose it.

Second, I just paid my monthly bill a few days ago, if I update right now, will they try to get me to pay another monthly bill? Or if it goes up $5 due to not being a Prevail, will they just charge me $5? I don't want to have to start the month over just to update the handset.

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide!!

Your bill is going to go up $5. Happened to me. Your payment will remain valid. They will not make you pay again, nor will you have to pay an additional $5 this month to have service. Your plan change will take effect on your next bill. Some people have been able to persuade a customer service rep to keep them on the grandfathered plan, though i haven't tried.

One more question, can I just unmount my sd card from the Prevail and use it in the Rush, or do I need to configure anything? Just as an FYI, my Prevail is rooted, but I do not plan on rooting the Rush just yet due to the warranty and I want to make sure there are problems with the phone itself before I root it. I don't know if that has any bearing on the sd card.......

It will work fine. I even left mine partitioned (mostly because I'm lazy :p) but if i choose to do so, links2sd will work with this partition

Just remember the rush has an internal sdcard

The external sd is /mnt/extSdCard. The internal one is /mnt/sdcard

Lordvincent--

I know I'm resurrecting an old thread, but I remembered you saying that you used your old sd card from your Prevail in your Rush. I have rooted and downloaded Link2sd, but every time I try to create a link to an app that option is blocked out and it says that it is not mounted (/data/sdext mount not found.). I tried to remount the partition (I believe it was ext2), but I get an error that says that the "mount script cannot be created. mount: device or resource busy. ext2 may not be supported on your device. try FAT32 on the second partition."

Did you have any problems like this? Should I wipe the card and repartition it? Or did I just miss/forget a step along the way? Is there a way to check if the partition is actually ext2? Sorry for all the questions......I thought I would be able to just pop in the card download link2sd and go! lol

Thank you in advance!

Actually I still haven't tried to use links2sd. I haven't had the need to do so. (Still plenty of memory)

In guess I could DL it and give it a shot. Give me a few and I will report back

Well it mostly works for me. The partition created using the prevail is ext4 so maybe that's the problem your having.

However, strangely I am not able to link all of the apps... I'm getting 'read only' errors

How many total partitions on either of your sd cards? If I was to bring the sd from my Prevail over it would have a total of 3 - 1 fat32 and 2 ext4 ( I ran CT 3.80 w/ SSM ) and from what I remember Link2Sd only likes cards with 2 partitions so maybe that's the trouble?

Mine does in fact have three, but it doesn't appear to Mount the third one. I have since restored my pre-links2sd backup since I do not really need to use it, but a Google search suggested to make sure the folder /data/sdext2/ was set to read/write so that may help too.

(With a root explorer, navigate to /data/sdext2/ and make sure the permissions are set to read/write)
