Switching to S8+ from iOS after 8 years...please help!

Hi guys,

Really in need of some advice. I have been deep rooted into the Apple ecosystem now for a long time but after seeing the latest 'amazing' iOS 11 release details and the lack of...anything really that impresses me, I can't keep kidding myself that I am underwhelmed every year at the lack of innovation.

So... I've made the massive jump and bought a Galaxy S8+ from an iPhone 7. BUT I really need some help in getting everything synced and working like it should on the S8+ as I am massively into using the iCloud services (drive, calendars, notifications, reminders, bookmarks) all of it. I also have a large music library bought through iTunes and iCloud photos for all my videos and photos.

So really over the next week or so I need to set up my S8+ and transfer everything. If I start with the photos and videos, I've been told the Google photos app is the way forward? Download on my iPhone and let them transfer across to the Google photos app right? What about contacts etc?

Thanks! Feeling a bit nervous about it all as iOS is all I know and at least it worked!

When you set the phone up initially, didn't it give you the option to migrate everything over via their Smartswitch service - http://www.samsung.com/us/smart-switch/

Also, for photos etc, have a look at Drive - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/google-drive-free-online-storage/id507874739?mt=8

Link to your google account and it should give you an option to sync all the pics etc on your device and they'll then show up in Google Photos (Apparently, I've had no experience of iOS, sorry).

For iTunes, this seems to get pretty decentish reviews - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrtstudio.iSyncr&hl=en_GB You might also want to check out an app called Doubletwist too.

This is an older article, but it should have some handy hints too - https://plus.google.com/+EricSchmidt/posts/JcfVoJhW2Kw

Hope that helps, but give us a shout if you get stuck with anything. :)

i had ip7plus and migration was not a worthy action with smartswitch. it was best setup as new and app by app installed onto the s8 plus. some apps are fluid some arent. yes i know Apple apps cost.
