Switching to vzw, looking for devices with unlockable bootloaders CyanogenMod support

I'm moving to the middle of no where and while I have 4g T-Mobile a mile from my house, in town and my house I have 1-2g.

Vzw and sprint are the only real options right now. And as I'm coming from a nexus 4 and OnePlus One i am really looking for devices that I can load cm11 or other custom ROMs.

I know Verizon looks their boot loaders and does not make it easy to get past that.

The good news is its easy to S-off, Boot Loader unlock, and root the Verizon version of the HTC One M8 and it has a pretty good choice of 3rd party Roms available for it.
The bad news is that S-off will cost you $25.00 You can look into it here http://androidforums.com/one-m8-all-things-root/854630-new-s-off-method-released-sunshine.html
I'm not sure what other Verizon phones would fit the bill at the moment as Verizon pretty much disallows ANY manufacture to offer unlocked versions of a phone on it's network.

I've been looking at the M8, I was kind of hoping to get the G3 however. I found sunshine and I'm down with paying the $25, I just wish it wasn't per device.

Looking at the Moto X for my wife and kids. Off to research that.

The Moto X+1 is due to be announced next week, so you might want to look at that as well.

I ended up with an HTC One M8 for myself and 3 Moto Xs for the wife and kids. Have not done anything with the M8 yet, getting ready to s-off it. Not doing anything with the Xs yet. Trying to Moto Maker two of them. I spent almost 3 hours in the store because their iPads kept crashing and deleting all of my account information. So the rep gave me a credit to my account plus flagged all of the Xs to be returnable with no restocking fee so I could do the moto maker.

Hope you enjoy your M8! Congratulations, let us know how you like it!:)

Good choice on the Moto X's :) I love mine.

Silly Verizon, using iPads. At least they made your bad experience sort of worth your while. As much as I hate going to a store they have gotten better in the last few years, the customer isn't the enemy anymore.
