Swoopo?

Newbie
I was looking for a good site to buy an unlocked phone, and someone pointed me to take a look at Swoopo. Apparently this is a bidding site that has, at times, had unlocked phones. I have found a few Nexus Ones on the completed listings.

What I am wondering, is how in the world this can be legitimate? It seems like the company would be loosing so much money, or would be just getting the best deals in the world on gear to make any money on them.

Has anyone tried to use this site, or one of these types of sites, and acutally gotten legitimate product from them?

How much does a bid cost?
Each bid costs just 50 pence, and are available in "BidPacks" of 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 bids.

Thats how! They don't make their money from the sellnig of the item, but from the bidders who didnt win it.

Yah, I understand that. I would even accept that fact that I spent $60 on bids, just to be able to try and get something. With that in mind, I spend $60 on bids, then get the item for $10, then shipping is another $8, that would be $78 for a $500 phone.

Overall, it seems like a good deal, just don't know if it sounds too good to be true. This is why I wanted to see if anyone had ever done it, and actually gotten something?

Thats what they prey on, if everyone thinks that way and spend $60 on bidding, they make a shed load of money. And a lot of people who could maybe afford to pay full price, can't afford to any more, and have nothing to show!!
