Help Swype function not working

Goku1989

Hello Friends,
After I upgraded my SGS to froyo through Kies, the swype method of text input has stopped working.

When I select swype method of text input the key board doesn't open at all.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

With THanks,
Goku

i think you can replace swype with stock rom, google for this version Swype.WVGA.2.10.52.13753 with mic near the spacebar, i just don't know what languages are supported but i have been using it (installing it) in all froyo versions that i have flashed (xxjpm, xxjpo, xxjpu and currently xxjpx). besides, its not buggy like those in the jpm and jpo. youy phoen should be rooted though. i used super manager to delete the swype related files from the system, reboot and then install the apk swype you want. you should select in the settings first the default input method to be samsung keyboard before deleting. if your phone is rooted, super manager installed and you have the swype apk, i will post the step by step procedure as i have done this many times.

Thanks for your reply, but before I root my phone, can you please help me answer the following 2 things,
> If I experience some hardware problems, can I unroot my phone for claiming warranty benefits? if yes how.
[Note: I already have issues with my hands free, the left ear phone doesn't work. but since my exams are on, I have no time till jan 6th to go to the service center)

> And then, how to root my phone (Samsung Galaxy S, i9000).

With Thanks,
Goku

Wait, before you root your phone and void your warranty, have you performed a factory reset since upgrading to Froyo? Seeing how this issue is software related, it might solve the problem, especially if Swype was working in 2.1 Eclair.
