Swype is ******ed

As much as I like Swype, it really needs some feature fixes.

The biggest problem I have is that it must be scanning my Contacts list and adding names from the Contact list to the Swype dictionary. Some of the names are very similar to common english words, so it's screwing up my accuracy.

Even after I delete these added contacts, they just come right back into the Swype dictionary.

This scanning feature is great if you're always wanting to swype your contact names. Since I probably have 1000 contacts it's actually a real PITA for me though.

Any ideas on how to control Swype so it's not always adding this stuff?

hi
I agree.it's a good app but could be great with some work,
and English dictionary.
back to smart keyboard now

true but it still needs to improve to reach it's full potential.
didn't like slide it so much

swype is still in beta, and for good reason. You didn't pay for it, so quit yo' bitchin'

Well I kinda did and didn't pay for it ... it's built into my phone, so I didn't really have a choice. I bought my Galaxy partly because it had Swype, it seemed like an efficient input method. I hope they improve on it soon though, it gets annoying.

^ ...and don't overlook Swype's own forums as a resource.

Also, don't forget that part of beta testing is providing feedback.

Ya, I joined the beta program, but they warn against uninstalling Swype if it came with the phone, which it did in my case (Samsung Galaxy).

I think I'll post a new thread asking how to update Swype if it's part of the phone. I'm curious what improvements the latest Swype has.

I'd guess these instructions would work for you as well.

Basically, you are just renaming the ROM Swype files and then installing the current beta. Don't see why it would be too different on a Galaxy S, but you better make sure first.

Root required.
