Help Swype keyboard suddenly locking up phone

Yesterday I was texting, posting things to facebook, etc - typical things, nothing unusual, I've had my Samsung Galaxy SIII for about 5 weeks. Then I went to send a text, and I couldn't get the keyboard to open up. Not only would the keyboard not open up, but the menu and back buttons at the bottom of the phone ceased to work, as well as pretty much most other touch functions. I rebooted about 5 times, pulled the battery, same problem, until I thought to try to change the keyboard to the Samsung keyboard. Works fine that way, but omg do I HATE the Samsung keyboard. It basically renders my phone annoying and useless. Anyone have any ideas about what might have happened and what I might do about it? I hadn't downloaded any new apps or anything yesterday, I'm bafled.

I moved your thread here to your device forum so others here can help.

I once had that issue, and what I did was to switch to another keyboard like you did, then go into manage applications, go to the Swype keyboard app, force stop, clear data, clear cache.

I then had to re-register it I believe...it's been a while but that worked for me:)

Are you using the latest version of Swype beta? The old versions had the same problems with me but it's been fine since the latest update.
