Root SWYPE Trail period ended?

Newbie
I'm running Cog 3.4 and just got an error message that the SWYPE trail period has ended. Anyone know how to fix?

Easy solution.

Go to the swype website and sign up for the beta, which is open right now.

On your phone, using Titanium Backup, backup and then uninstall your existing Swype.

Reboot your phone, then follow the instructions in the Swype e-mail, which you should be opening from your phone. Make sure you use the native browser and not something like Skyfire. Install the installer, and then Swype itself.

Works great.

Was able to uninstall the built-in swype with titanium backup but the re-install with the downloaded swype installer failed first try. Tried again and selected English/Spanish and it worked. :-)

That did it thanks. I imagine the same thing will be happening to the beta trail soon as well.

Once you're in the beta, you should always have access to Swype. They just don't always have the beta open.

Thanks much Chiknlil!!!!

Is this just a root/rom people thing, or a stock 2.1, etc. thing, also? If this is a ploy to collect millions of e-mail addresses...well.... add that to the list of reasons I hope aliens destroy human beings.

This is a 'beta has expired' problem exacerbated by Samsung and AT&T once again not sending out a much needed update. Samsung has received the latest Swype for distribution. I am so glad I'm not dependent on either one of them for the system files on my phone.

I've followed the instructions for updating, but I've run into the AT&T app block message. I had to use SWM to install the Swype installer. When I run the installer, it tries to download Swype and I get the "You can't install non-market apps" message. Is there any way around this or is there a place that I can get the .apk file to sideload?
And would someone please tell AT&T that they are just my cell provider, not my mother.

OK, I just remembered that I can use Super One Click to enable non-market apps. It worked, you just have to remember to reboot the phone before the enabling takes effect. Thanks you, Shortfuse for a great app.
