Maybe posting where you CAN post that would be helpful if you can't post it here...

There needs to be a sticky of links where people can post information that is not allowed on this particular board.. There needs to be a list that people can be free to update where you can find Apps that are hard to find with the current version number that are not able to be purchased through the market..

Swype can't be found on the market for free or paid, and there are so many versions out there, there needs to be a list of the actual filename of the current version so people can search on their own if they so desire.
 
You can post that anywhere where it's allowed to illegally distribute software. The only way to get Swype is if it's delivered on your device or if you're in the beta. There's no need for this site to list every single app that can and can't be posted. Check with the developer if in doubt. Swype doesn't allow for unauthorized distribution of their software. Lack of Market availability doesn't make it legal to distribute.

The legal problem is only for Swype and the person distributing the software.. Posting "Hey you can find the software over there ---->" is not illegal.

You are legally able to say where something is, just don't distribute it.

Kinda like anarchist cookbook, "Hey this is how you make a bomb, Just don't do it".. It is illegal to make a bomb, but not where and how to find the info... So having a single post listing locations of boards that MAY have a post about something is ok.. I have no problem with this board saying "You cant post that file on here" but people should be able to post.. "But you can find it at http://whatever.com"..

Just don't post the direct link to the file here or you'll violate the rules of this board, but you CAN post a link to a place that has the direct link or where the information could be found to the link.

But, let's not confuse legal issues with ethical issues. Some sites deem posting links to illegal downloads "against the forum's policies". And I believe this site is one of those. Frankly, I'm good with that. :)

Discussion of Swype obtained by a method other than the beta is NOT permitted on AF. AF does not want to be sued!

As is always the case, unauthorized distribution of copyright materials is never a wise move.

So you are suggesting that AF put up a place that condones the illegal and unauthorized distribution of material????

Not going to happen.

Quite simply, if the forum rules dictate that you can't talk about where to get illegal and unauthorized copies of Swype, we are NOT about to say it's ok to talk about how to do it over at blahblahblah.com instead.

Doing that on THIS forum is not allowed. We like to keep things legal. If you want the app, get it at Swype | Text Input for Screens

Don't like it, take it up with the owner/admins.
