sym button on slide-out keyboard

I dont know if this happened to anyone else but my Rise started out with a "sym" button on the slide-out keyboard that only had access to like 9 symbols (most of which were useless). about 2 months or so after having the phone all of the sudden the "sym" button had access to pages of useful symbols, which was EPIC. I recently had to switch out my Rise for a new one (battery problems) and the new one has the latest firmware (i think...4.0.4) and the sym button is back to its old shit menu. Was this part of a different app I downloaded?

Probably. Did you download any custom keybaords?

I am also guessing it was an app. Mine also only has ever had the nine useless "shit" symbols.

My wifes rise had an update from the play store for the stock "google keyboard", it added swiping ala 4.2. It might be that update that added symbols. You can check it out in the play store.

I also got the update to the keyboard, it works amazingly well btw, but still mostly using the slider! I'm totally addicted to it as I get a lot of texts for my work. Definitely the best on screen keybaord I've tried, the swipe works way better than the actual swype keyboard.
