Android Question

I have read many threads on this problem (I am trying to solve this for over 10 hrs already) but nothing I have tried got me closer to the solution.

The problem is simple: I cant sync my google calendar on my phone -- I have two google accounts neither syncs -- mainly, I think, because the option 'Sync Calendar' is missing. There are a number of things that come together, and there are number of things that I have tried, but did not work.

# I erased my accounts, re-booted, added my accounts. Did not work.
Interesting in relation to this is that I continuously have a 'sync error': 'Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly'. More interesting is that it seems to sync just fine, despite the error notification.
When I add the first account it syncs everything automatically, yet the sync calendar is not there. When I add the second account I get a list of options which includes 'Sync com.android.calendar', yet, when added the 'sync calendar' is not there, neither is the calendar.

# I created an entirely new account. Fun for the extra email address I now have, but the option 'sync calendar' is not there. (yes, I created a calendar, with colours and appointments and everything)

# After having read many threads, I checked and noticed that the Calendarprovidor.akp is missing from my system/app. I downloaded multiple versions of this file. Tried to install them, phone says: app not installed. Tried to move them to system/app, phone says: ERROR, could not write file. Now I do not even know this is causing the problem... but even if it is I can't get to the solution.

Obviously, I am getting desperate I really want my calendar :-/. Who can help me out?
The phone is a Samsung 4s mini, android version 4.2.2. It's brand new, this is my first attempt of setting it up.

Tnx on forehand!

ps. I do not know how to add them here but I made screen shots of all the steps along the way...

Hi

Not sure if you have done this:

Open Splanner on your phone
Press the big calendar button at the top of the month view
Select the calendars you want to sync.

If you still have problems I think you should register on the forums and subscribe to the forum for your phone model so you can have a 2 way discussion with those helping you.

I agree with girolez that you should probably register so we can have a two way conversation here as your solution is too complicated to just spit out one answer.

I _belive_ the missing .apk is your problem, however it must be in /system/app for it to work. However your phone must be rooted and /system has to be mounted read/write then the permissions have to be set correctly; all this before you reboot and get it to work.

Okay, signed up!

@Girolez, thanks, but the problem is that there are no calendars available to select. I have installed 2 other apps (google's own and Business Calendar) and there are no calendars to sync there either.

@teddy, sounds like a plan. Problem: I am a laywomen, afraid to add and erase unwanted files and basically mess it up entirely. Can you tell me how to root and mount?
I got to the system folder by using ASTRO file manager, the original samsung file manager did not grant my access.

I wonder though... why is it not there? Can it be that I have erased it without knowing?

Here's your official "Welcome to the site :hello:"

OK, there is no way you could have removed that file unless your phone is rooted and you had a file manager that works with root access. Astro does not. And after re-reading your original question (which had allot of details, thank you) let me re-ask a couple of things:

This phone is brand new?

And what carrier is it on?

Thanks!

Yes the phone is brand new. Bought it about a month ago.
The carrier is o2, Germany via a contract with Mobilecom.

I do not suppose they have an interest in 'blocking' my calendar functions though...

Yesterday I tried to create a 'local' calendar, no syncing, just on the phone:
# Samsung calendar opens the 'add event' but then simply does not do anything, the add event tab is empty.
# Google calendar simply keeps 'loading' when I want to add an event, doesn't go anywhere.
# business calendar gives a proper error when I try to create a local calendar reading: 'error creating local calendar. We are sorry but your device seems not to allow adding local calendars'.

... it mystifies me.

Well, I would say that your phone itself is defective and since it is not rooted, you should take it back to the carrier for warranty replacement as I think that's the only way to fix it at this point.

good luck
