Help "Sync Contacts" option missing from Google Account Sync! Expert advice needed

Hi,

I have a Samsung S3 Mini and was trying to set up contact syncing with Gmail and the contacts saved there. I did set it up on a different Android phone and had no problem. After trying to get it to work I finally found the reason why... there's no "Sync Contacts" option in the Google account!

I can sync other stuff, but not contacts. The screenshot looks like the one posted at https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xper...-missing-from-Google-Account-Sync/td-p/816169 but the solution posted there doesn't work for me - I couldn't find a 'Disabled' section anywhere.

Would be great if someone here could help!

I can only find Settings/Application manager, and there is no "Disabled" there. Can you be more specific please?

The first, default, view is labelled Downloaded, and there should be two other tabs visible, labelled All and Disabled.

In my version 4.2.2 there are 4 pages, downloaded, SD, running and all. There is no page like Disabled... May be his version is also having the same layout.

I am also having problem with contacts syncing. When I try to manually sync, it apparently start syncing but then I get a bubble that there is a problem with syncing and try later. Last sync was on November 12th...I couldn't figure out till now.
