Sync folder A on device X with folder B on device Y?

So, all I want to do is have a specific folder on my computer sync with a specific folder on my android -- folders I can choose name and location.

I've tried dropbox, sugarsync, etc. The closest seemed to be Cheetah Sync, but that can only be done by local area Wi-Fi.

Seriously, is this such an obscure edge case? I would have thought that is the basic functionality any user would want. Guess not. Is there any reliable app out there that does this?

Thanks

Depends on what you want. I plug the phone into the computer, run AllWaySync on the computer and have it sync 5 different directories. If you want automagic sync in the background in real time, I can't help, never had a need for that.

I haven't used it, but there is and app called Drop Sync for Dropbox that sounds like it may do what you want.

I use MyPhoneExplorer, mainly for syncing contacts and the calendar from Outlook on my PC to my Desire HD, but I also use it to sync my music collection. That is, it syncs a 'specific folder on my computer with a specific folder on my Desire HD'.

There is a client on the PC and an app on the phone. A 'search' through these forums and with Google will enable you to find it.

Oh, I use wifi for this as it's the most convenient way for 'me' to connect the two, but it also works over a usb connection.

FolderSync is the answer. Does exactly what you want, a lot of syncing options, very easy to understand, and a very responsive developer.

I use a PureSync to keep folders syncronized on my device. This presume you only want to sync across a LAN and not the Internet. I also use a program called FileSAMBA so my SD card appears as a drive on the network over WiFi. I have it set that when PureSync sees the drive connencts it aulomatically syncs the folders.
