Sync intervals?

I saw people talking about setting different times for the phone to sync(update?) email to save battery life. I asked them how in that thread, but it was off topic and never answered. I figured out how to change it between manual or automatic sync, but not a time interval; like every half hour or hour. What am I missing here?

Open the Mail app, Hit menu button on phone then
More > Settings > Send & Receive > Set download frequency
