Sync is currently experiencing problems..

Hero wont sync contacts to Google.. Anyone know any possible fixes?
If it is any help:
I cannot set a contact as "Google".
I restored contacts with MBP and after found out this is a bad idea, is this the problem it causes?

Could clearing all contact data fix this (and how do I do this?)

Im just about to do the upgrade myself, so this is a good question...

All my contacts are synced with google gmail. After the rom ug do i just sit and let gmail re-sync, or is it better to restore from a backup?

OK, here is how I did it.

• I did a data backup with MYBACKUP as a precaution
• I upgraded the ROM
  • This returns the phone to factory default settings when it is done; all data and non factory apps wiped
• I went through the normal startup wizard; put in my gmail account, my facebook acount...
• While I was just swiping around the default home screens i noticed a calendar appointment popped up. So I looked in "People" and all 400 contacts were already synced from the net. It happened really fast. And somehow the facebook connections were in tact.
• So; then i went to market and re-downloaded all the apps in "My downloads"
• Atthis point my phone was back to how I want minus the home screens, which i manually added the way I want them.
• I used my backup only to restore phone logs and text msg logs.

Went smooth as silk. And the interface is indeed faster. I love this phone.

Assuming downloads are linked to the Google account (which was on my origional ROM but not this one) then I think I will reinstall the MoDaCo ROM and not restore anything apart from settings AFTER I link my account..
