Synced calendars - problem with reminders

I have synced the calendars on my Samsung S2 and my wife's HTC Desire X via our Google calendars. Events work nicely with different colours for our respective events, but reminders sound on both phones, which is annoying.
Is there a way for my reminders to only sound on my phone & vice versa?

I don't think there is anyway in the standard calendar app without a new app. I use an app called Calendar Event Reminder. If you have your events on one Google Calendar and your wife's on another Google Calendar then the app will allow you to handle the notifications with different profiles

Yes there is a way to do this. It depends on how you have shared your calendars with each other on the Calendar web interface I believe.
I've got read only access to my girlfriend's Google calendar (and vice versa) and I've never had one of her reminders. I'm pretty sure she's never had one of my reminders either (otherwise I'd have heard about it by now )
No additional apps required.

OK, sounds good, but I've checked & our Google calendars are also 'read only' for the other party, so something else must differ. I will go through the settings on both phones to see if I've missed something.

I have no per-calendar settings on my phone for notifications.
I've noticed that in the drop down menu for my girlfriend's calendar on the web interface there is a Reminders and Notifications option. This takes me to a screen with all the options empty / unselected. Have you been able to access and check that screen?

If all else fails it might be worth removing and re-adding the calendar.

Finally solved the problem!! After following your suggestions without success, I took them a stage further & undid all our Google Calendar & phone syncs & started again from scratch. Everything is now working properly, so I must have done something wrong in the original setup.

Anyway, many thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
