Help Syncing Ace 4 phone with Google Gmail

I have a Samsung Ace 4 Lite phone and want to have all my phone contacts backed up on Google. When I go to the contacts on Gmail I only see my Google + contacts, not my phone contacts. The phone is set to back up to Google. What's the solution?

Hi

I suspect you have your contacts on your phone stored as "phone" contacts and not google contacts. Phone contacts are not synced anywhere. You should be able to merge them:

Open the contacts app
menu button
settings
merge with google

In future when you create a new contact use the dropdown at the top of the new contact screen to set it as Google contact, rather than Phone.

Thanks but the settings menu doesn't have a merge with google option. Under accounts, google is synced with the phone but that doesn't help.

Again in contacts > settings, can you export the contacts as a csv (to your sd card) and then import them back as google contacts?

Well, that is basically what you need to do - turn them into Google contacts rather than phone contacts. Can you export/import via usb instead?
