system app help

aight. So, I want to have full access to my touchwiz app (this is the default app launcher for some samsung phones) straight from the app drawer. I found the .apk file in the root/system/app folder and I tried copying it and placing the copy in the root/data/app folder where all the app-drawer-accessible apps are and I still couldn't see it there so I tried moving up the permission to executable for that .apk file. Still nothing. The file is not and has never been 'hidden' so I'm running out of ideas. Thanks.

full access was bad wording on my part. I just want the app to show up in my app drawer. or more specifically in the list of apps I'm allowed to select from when choosing which apps I can put directly on my lock screen.

See what I want to do is set 'go launcher ex' as my default launcher so I don't have to select it every time I hit the home button and then have both app icons on my lock screen so if I want to access the default touchwiz launcher for whatever reason I can simply hit the power button twice and slide the touchwiz app to unlock my phone and be in its launcher

I don't know about that, when I use a 3rd party launcher I set it as my default by going into settings, programs and select your current launcher and select clear defaults, next time you hit the home button you'll be asked which launcher you want to use for the default, do the same thing if you ever need to switch back to Touchwiz. Let us know how you make out, good luck. :D

Well, you can use Home Switcher as previously advised, but I would seriously advice not to run 2 home apps at the same time. It would just eat too much battery and RAM. I don't really even see a reason to run two home apps.

Once you choose on or the other, the second launcher doesn't continue to run in the background, your launcher is just another app to the phone, I have Boat as my preferred browser because it's light and speedy, but when I'm downloading large files I prefer to use Firefox because it gets less corruption errors, it's either one or the other, both aren't running at the same time. For me personally, I would only change my launcher defaults if I swapped roms, doing it so infrequently it makes more sense for me to do it manually then install an app I might use every 4-6 weeks.

That's only if you don't switch launchers randomly like what the OP was saying. If you have two active launchers, it will cache widgets and the homescreens and such to RAM, eating up more RAM than if you only have one active launcher running as default.

I'm aware they won't be running at the same time and I'm also aware this isn't gonna be too great on my cache, ram, or battery but I'm pretty OCD and I clear my RAM and active apps constantly plus I'll hardly ever be using the touchwiz one, mainly I just want to keep all my sticky notes on that app launcher. Its pretty pointless but at this point I'm determined. I think Im gonna pull the files out on to my computer and unzip them with winrar and just play around and compare them to other .apk files that already do what I want the touchwiz file to do. I have a little programing knowledge, not much, so I'll make backups and what not. I'll let everyone know if I'm successful in a few days. Thanks everybody, appreciate the input.

Why not just make another homescreen with nothing but the sticky notes? Having two launchers is just a pain. Just swipe over.

That and stuff that's integrated into the rom as deeply as TouchWiz, or any other manufacturers overlay sometimes involves a lot more than an apk, it's often integrated into the roms framework as well. Good luck and let us know how you make out with the project, this is exactly what makes Android so great, the ability to make our device do what we want. :p
